Resume Service Cost
With so many different options available, it can be difficult to really understand why there is so much variance in resume service cost. Just like every service, they are not all created equal. This means that there are a number of different factors that will contribute to the overall cost. In some cases, you can find resume service costs as low as $50 or as high as several hundred. Here is a closer look at some of the biggest factors that will affect how much it will cost you to get a resume created.
1. Overall Quality of Writer
The quality of writers that will be crafting your resume will be the largest determent of the resume service cost. Elite writers can charge a premium and the resume writing services are willing to pay it. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the most expensive services will have the best writers. There are a number of talented writers who are still working their way up the ladder. The big difference is consistency. With premium services, all of the writers will be more than qualified, whereas average services will likely have a few very good writers and a few less than quality writers. It is this variance that often dictates the price. The less you spend, the higher the gamble.
2. Uniqueness and Personalization
Another big factor is the uniqueness and personalization that is added to your resume. The resume writing services that focus on delivering a bulk volume will typically base all of their resumes around a few different templates based on your experience and industry. On the higher end of the scale, your resume will individually hand-tailored. Sometimes, you can even get a resume tailored to a specific type of position. For example, some services have different price points for college graduates/entry level positions, mid-career, and senior (C-Level) executives. This is because each resume requires a different format and should display different skill sets.
3. Time to Completion
In general, the time to completion plays only a small role in the resume service cost. The only time that it will become a factor is when you need a “rush project”. If you don’t plan ahead and need your resume completed sooner than their normal delivery rate, you could end up paying 2 to 3 times more.
